Makakatana Bay Lodge is uniquely situated on the shores of Lake St Lucia and is the only privately owned lodge within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Makakatana Bay Lodge offers guests a simply unique combination of safari options. Stand alone for Makakatana is the private boat trip on an exclusive section of the iSimangaliso Wetland system. Mangrove lined waters are the habitat of hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. Furthermore guests may enjoy a safari in the savannahs of this unique wetland area and observe buffalo herds, wildebeest, elephant and common plains game. Others may opt to take a short drive to the beach with their ranger and enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and relax with a picinc hamper.
